Betty June Davis Horton, age 82, of Cleveland, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ott and Ruby Davis; her brothers, Lee Davis, Paul Davis, and Jesse Davis; and her sisters, Jamie Lou Graves and Maxine Robertson Lusher. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Doyle Horton; her daughters, Doylene Horton, Angie Leimbach (Glenn), and Mitsi Weems (Brian); four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her brother, Johnny Davis (Kay).
Betty was a faithful and much-loved member of Haw Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
A natural-born caregiver with a true mother’s heart, Betty’s greatest desire was to make a loving home for her family. She was a faithful and hardworking partner to her husband. She raised three daughters and later helped raise her grandchildren. She was always willing to care for her nieces, nephews, and any children of family or friends who needed her. After all, she was happiest when she was rocking a baby.
Among the many things that made Betty so special were her servant’s heart, kindness, thoughtfulness, contentment, patience, and selflessness. She was the best baby rocker, a generous giver of banana bread, a lover of butterflies and hummingbirds, and an Atlanta Braves fanatic. She was a willing and energetic hostess for family and church gatherings, a loyal friend, a constant source of help, a loving mother and grandmother, and a most virtuous woman.
Her husband, Doyle, has often been heard saying, “There’s never been a better woman.” Most importantly, Betty was a faithful daughter of her Heavenly Father. The fruit of her life of faith surrounds us today in the lives and hearts of the people she loved so very much.
Galatians 5:22–23“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against which there is no law.”
The family will receive friends at the Chapel of The Cleveland Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel, with burial afterward at Dailey’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers honored to carry Betty to her final resting place include Jacob Morton, Daniel Morton, Wyatt Morton, Brady Whitten, Gabriel Weems, and Teddy Self. Honorary pallbearers include Nate Morton and Glenn Leimbach.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness, and selfless service. Her gentle spirit, loving hands, and faithful heart will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
