Billy Wayne Gunnells, born on February 11, 1959, departed this life on January 30, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication, family, and an unwavering passion for sports.

Billy had a commendable career as a manager at multiple fast food restaurants, where he honed his skills in leadership and customer service, leaving a positive impact on both his employees and patrons. His professional life was characterized by a commitment to excellence and a friendly demeanor that endeared him to many.

In his personal life, Billy was a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, showcasing his love for college football and sports in general. He participated actively in discussions surrounding various games and events, sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family alike. His love for sports extended beyond football, as he was a supporter of numerous athletic endeavors, proudly following the achievements of both local and national teams.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Marena Sellers; his brother, Kenneth Gunnells; and his three grandchildren, Isaiah Sellers (Ashley), William Sellers (Brianna), and Jonathan Sellers, along with a host of great-great-grandchildren. His family was of utmost importance to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tammy Gunnells, as well as his father, John Gunnells, and mother, Ruby Williams Gunnells. The warmth of his character and the strength of his familial ties will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Billy Wayne Gunnells will be missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
