Boston Cleo Hale

Boston Cleo Hale, also known as B.C. Hale of Rosa, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on September 19, 2026. He was 89 years old.

B.C. will be remembered for his deep love of his family, his church, and his community. Everyone was always welcomed into his home, and he had a genuine love for people. He served as a Deacon of Pine Grove Baptist Church for over 49 years, faithfully serving the Lord and his church family.

B.C. was an electrician by trade and a graduate of Wallace State Community College. He worked for Stockham Valves for more than 23 years and later retired from Royal Cup Coffee. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and was stationed in Japan, where he served as a military cook.

Known for his wonderful sense of humor and his love of fun, B.C. brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was a devoted Alabama football fan and Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He enjoyed watching old-time westerns, playing cards and dominoes, and spending time with friends at the Oneonta and Snead senior citizen centers, which he frequented until the time of his illness.

B.C. was born in Gwen’s Cove and raised on Hog Mountain. He was the youngest of 13 children. Above all, he loved the Lord and demonstrated that love through the way he cared for others and lived his life as an example of faith, kindness, and generosity.

B.C. is survived by his son, Randy Cleo Hale (Pamela); daughters, LeeAnn Hale and Kimberly Bowers (Michael); five grandchildren, Erica Self (Chris), Kayla Hamlin (Greg), Ken Floyd II (Amanda), Brittani Floyd, and Chloe Hale; six great-grandchildren, Jesse Joy, Andrew Self, Erin Self, Jace Christopher Self, Jackson Cleo Self, and Penelope Rose Hamlin; brothers, Bill Hale (Pat) of Pell City, AL. and Jackie Hale (Elizabeth) of Tuscaloosa, AL. and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Janet Hayes Hale, parents, Exer Lee Hale and Rhoda Ann Johnson Hale; brothers, Lee (Ruby), Kenneth, Eldridge (Ezell), J.C. (Nellie), Carl, and Alvin Hale (Thelma); and sisters, Florence Montgomery (Houston), Annie McAnnally (Buddy), Bell Holt (Luke), and Ruth Holmes.

B.C. leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, laughter, and love. His devotion to the Lord, his church, and the people around him will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family, friends, and community.
