Carol Anita Moore, born May 9, 1949, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love, devotion, and joy. Those who knew Carol will remember her as a steadfast friend, a caring relative, and a heartwarming presence whose smile brightened countless lives.
Carol's life was centered around the people and moments she cherished. She found incredible joy in spending time with her friends and family, often opening her home to gather loved ones for lively meals and occasions. Her kitchen was a place where stories were told, laughter was shared, and memories took root—a testament to her enduring warmth and hospitality.
Carol's interests spanned throughout her life and painted a vibrant picture of who she was. She was an enthusiastic collector who found excitement in auctions, continuously finding treasures and sharing their stories. She took great pride in her involvement with the Eastern Star, valuing the sense of community and service it provided. Carol was as comfortable outdoors as she was among friends—whether enjoying the sunlight or simply breathing in the fresh air, she found peace in nature's simplicity.
Her passion for life extended to her role as a devoted fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. She never missed a game, cheering on her team with unmatched spirit. In her youth, Carol's love for sports made her a standout athlete. She was known for her energy and dedication as a softball player and cheered with vigor as a cheerleader, embodying both teamwork and enthusiasm—a foundation that carried throughout her life.
Carol embraced the ever-changing world around her, staying in touch with friends and family through Facebook, where she delighted in sharing milestones, photos, and exchanging stories. No matter how the years went by, her vivacious spirit and genuine care for others endured.
She is survived by her beloved son, John Paul Moore (Sonya), who carries forward her values and compassionate nature; granddaughter Heather Marie Hallmark (Ash), and grandson Judah Michael Moore, both of whom felt the warmth of her embraces and the wisdom in her words; and great-granddaughter Isabella Rose Marie Hallmark, who brought immense joy to Carol in her later years. Her caring heart extended to nieces and nephews who will treasure her memory dearly.
Carol's journey continues as she reunites in peace with those who predeceased her: her beloved husband John Howard Moore, Jr., her father James Weldon Vaughn, and her mother Catherine Marie Wilson. The love they shared endures in the hearts of all who remain.
