Celia Cervantes (Nunez), born on September 11, 1949, in Guanajuato, Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, in Cleveland, Alabama at the age of 74. Celia was a cherished member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Oneonta, Alabama, where she was devout in her faith and actively participated in the church community.

Celia devoted 20 years of her career to Tyson's Chicken Plant in Blountsville, Alabama. Her work ethic and leadership were admired by many.

She was a loving and dedicated wife to Luis Cervantes for 55 years. Together, they raised a wonderful family that includes their sons Celia Cervantes (Nunez), born on September 11, 1949, in Guanajuato, Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, in Cleveland, Alabama at the age of 74. She was a loving and dedicated wife to Luis Cervantes for 55 years. Together, they raised a wonderful family that includes their sons Jose Luis (Rocio), Leonel (Marisol), and Renan (Jessica); daughters Patricia (Jesus), Azucena Serrano (Cesar), Camelia (Fernando), and Rosaura (Adolfo); brothers Antonio (Luz) and Luis Contreras (Ernestina); sisters Ernestina (Conrado), Eloina (Valente), Guadalupe (Manuel), and Rosa Contreras. Celia was a proud grandmother to 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her family extended to numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss her deeply.

Celia was preceded in death by her parents, Refujio and Luisa Contreras, her brother Roberto Contreras, and sisters Juana and Noemi Contreras.

Her love for cooking, family gatherings, flowers, and shopping brought joy not only to her but also enriched the lives of those around her.

Visitation for Mrs. Cervantes will be held Friday evening June 28, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home, 17885 State Highway 160 Cleveland, Alabama 35049. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday June 29, 2024 at 10:00 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 32015 AL-75 Oneonta, Alabama 35121 with Father James Hedderman officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Joy Cemetery in Cleveland, Alabama.

As Celia was a respected and much-loved member of her community, her presence will be greatly missed but her spirit will live on through the memories she has left behind. Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home is assisting the family.
