Charlotte Stevens, born on September 9, 1942, and called home on January 20, 2026, was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with purpose, love, and a commitment to serve others. A strong and independent spirit, Charlotte dedicated herself to making a difference in the lives of women in need through her ministry, Anchor Ministries (CWJC). This uplifting initiative not only provided support to those less fortunate but also marked a full circle moment when she passed on her leadership role to the very first woman she had helped, ensuring that her legacy of empowerment would continue.
A devout member of the Cleveland Baptist Church, Charlotte loved her church and cherished her church family. Her faith in God was unwavering, guiding her through life's many seasons and inspiring those around her. Her love of the outdoors was unmatched; she found solace in her garden and joy in life's simple pleasures. Those who had the honor of knowing her remember her fondly as a determined individual with a deep appreciation for life. The yellow rose, her favorite flower, perfectly symbolizes the vibrant beauty she brought to every moment.
Charlotte's life was also marked by cherished memories of adventure. While living in Florida, she owned a boat that became a vessel for laughter and joy, providing countless opportunities for her family and friends to come together and create precious memories on the water.
She leaves behind a loving family, profoundly heartbroken yet grateful for the time they shared. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Susy Davis; her stepdaughters, Kelly Johnson (Scott) and Stephanie Cozelman (Thomas); and her adored grandchildren, Josh Johnson, Jared Johnson, Grant Long, and Bennett Long.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Stevens, whose memory she carried with her throughout her life. She is also reunited in spirit with her parents, Bascom Vines and Estelle Raines Vines; her brother, Robert Vines; and her sister, Barbara Duke.
A memorial service to celebrate her incredible life will be held on February 8, 2026, at Cleveland First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Alabama, beginning at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join together to share their love for Charlotte and the profound impact she had on so many lives.
Charlotte Stevens will always be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. Her legacy of love and service will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, an everlasting reminder of her beautiful spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Compass Ministries.
