Donna Marie Hethcox, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. Born on December 30, 1956, Donna graced this world with her warmth, devotion, and kindness for nearly 70 years. Her presence enriched the lives of many, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Donna's life was a testament to love and dedication. For 51 years, she was the devoted wife of Alfrod Hethcox, a partnership built on mutual respect and deep affection. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, joy, and unwavering support. Donna also treasured her role as a mother to her daughter, Joan Mahon, and found immense happiness in watching her grandchildren, including Megen Nicole Mahon and her husband Charlie, grow and flourish. The arrival of her great-grandchild, Elizabeth Rose Oser, brought her even greater joy, further weaving the generations together with love.
A woman of gentle spirit and countless passions, Donna found solace and delight in nature’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers with tender care, and had a special fondness for sitting by her pond, surrounded by ducks and chickens she lovingly cared for. An avid fisherwoman, she found peace amidst rippling waters and the quiet beauty of the outdoors. Her heart was also bound to her two loyal boxers, companions who shared in her daily joys and comforted her in challenging times.
Donna’s family was her world, but she also embraced the bonds of friendship with the same fervor. She is survived by her brother Raymond Burroughs, and her sisters Dennis Moore and Linda Short. Extending the circle of family were her sister-in-law, Carol Hanna and her husband Jerry, along with special friends who stood by her side: Ray Obecunas with Keerie, Belinda Lambert, and Minnie. These relationships were treasured sources of strength and love throughout her life.
Her journey was shaped by those who came before her, including her beloved parents, James David Burroughs and Evelyn Inez Dempsey, who preceded her in death, as did her brother Dale Burroughs. Their legacy lives on through Donna’s enduring spirit and the family she so deeply loved.
A memorial service to honor Donna Marie Hethcox’s remarkable life will be held on May 19, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Home, located at 17885 State Highway 160, Cleveland, Alabama, 35049. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, kindness, and an unyielding devotion to those who mattered most.
Donna’s light touched everyone fortunate enough to know her, and though she has departed this earthly plane, her spirit remains a guiding force. She taught us the beauty of patience, the strength found in nurturing family, and the simple joys that bring meaning to our days. The garden she lovingly tended is now a symbol of her enduring love—blooming in the hearts of all who knew her.
Rest in peace, dear Donna Marie Hethcox. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
