Mr. James Essel McAnnally age 89, of Oneonta passed away Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 at his residence.

Survivors include wife Martha McAnnally, sons Essel Junior McAnnally, Kevin Wayne McAnnally, sister Betty Grace Roberson, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mr.McAnnally was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Grace McAnnally, brothers Clarin McAnnally, Billy Joseph McAnnally, sisters Olma Lee Phillips and Emma Jean Dixon

The family will receive friends at Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel 17885 State Hwy 160 Cleveland, Alabama 35049 Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at 1:00 pm in Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Dailey's Chapel Cemetery in Rosa, Alabama.

Mr. McAnnally was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion, he loved to work on cars, and was an avid Alabama fan. He enjoyed watching "Reds" baseball and Alabama women's softball. He also loved to pick and play his guitar; to mostly bluegrass music, or he would play a song and just make up the words as he went along.
