Mary Janice Pate (Posey), 62, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on November 7, 2025. Born on February 20, 1963, in Birmingham, Alabama, Janice dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse, a testament to her deep compassion and love for people.

Janice is survived by her loving husband, Albert Pate; daughter, Katie Pate; her special nephew, Ian Anderson White; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Peggy (Chandler) Posey, and her sister, Rebecca Herring.

A woman of many passions, Janice enjoyed cooking, singing, and playing both the piano and the organ. She cherished the beauty of flowers, had a fond affection for animals, and relished watching westerns. Fishing was another of her favorite pastimes, providing many cherished moments.

A faithful member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Janice's commitment to her faith was evident in her community involvement and the way she lived her life.

Visitation for Janice will be held on Monday, November 9, 2025, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, AL, where funeral services will also take place at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery in Cleveland, AL, ensuring that Janice will rest among the community and landscapes she so dearly loved. The Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Ian White, Jeremy Holms, Charlie Falin, Anthony Pate, Garrett Pate, and Bryan Herndon.
