Obituary

J.C. Wiginton, aged 98, of Cleveland, Alabama passed away on October 5, 2025. Born on July 31, 1927, in Marion County, Alabama, he was a son to the late James "B" Wiginton and May Cagle Wiginton. J.C. was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Mary Alice Bagwell Wiginton, his siblings Paralee Dickinson, Veralee McConnell, Acholee Wiginton, and R.B. Wiginton.

J.C. proudly served in the Air Force during World War II, a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country. After his military service, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver with Ryder Truck Lines, retiring in 1989 after 42 years of service.

Beyond his professional life, J.C. was deeply passionate about vegetable and cattle farming. He cherished the time spent outdoors, whether it was tending to his garden, fishing, or simply enjoying nature. An avid sports fan, J.C. also found joy in watching games, sharing this love with his family and friends.

He was a regular at Charlie B's, where he enjoyed dining almost daily, and was well-loved by both staff and fellow patrons, considered part of the Charlie B's family. His community spirit extended beyond just dining out; he was always ready to lend a hand or share a smile with his neighbors.

J.C. leaves behind a loving family: his son David Wiginton (Ruby), daughters Beth Davis (Reggie) and Becky Sims (Jim), grandchildren Joshua Henderson, Jennifer Henderson, Reagan Sims (Taylor), Mary Madison Scroggins (Daniel), Luke Wiginton (Anna), Leah Wiginton, Jay Wiginton (Grace), and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves a special niece, Vicki McConnel, along with numerous other cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2025, at 3:30 pm at the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, AL, where visitation will also occur from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm the same day.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Smith, his secretary Christy Beasley, the staff at Locust Fork pharmacy, Inhabit Home Health, and the hospice nurses, especially Jessica, who provided exceptional care in his final days. Additional gratitude is extended to Cullman Regional Medical Center, Garry Myrick for taking care of his truck; Charlie B's, and all neighbors and first responders, including Lifeguard Ambulance and Paramedic Doug Rhymes, for their support and care.
