It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Harold Blackwood, who left us on March 24, 2026, in Oneonta. Born on March 11, 1972, Jerry lived a life full of warmth, joy, and an unmistakable spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jerry was a man of many passions and an infectious zest for life. A huge fan of Dolly Parton, he found joy and inspiration in her music and message. His love for the "Dukes of Hazzard" showcased his playful nature and fondness for classic entertainment. Jerry's heart extended to all creatures great and small; his love for animals was boundless and heartwarming. He was known as the best hug giver—his embraces conveyed comfort and unconditional affection, brightening even the darkest days. Jerry had an uncanny ability to spread smiles, with a personality so outgoing that he never met a stranger. He cherished movie nights and treasured holiday seasons, especially birthdays and Christmas, which he held dear to his heart and would eagerly share his Christmas list by October each year. His affection for snacks, particularly Dr. Pepper, was a delightful part of his everyday life, reflecting his playful and approachable demeanor.
Jerry is survived by his beloved father, Edwin Blackwood; his dear brother, Kim Corvin Blackwood, and Kim’s wife Rachel; and his cherished sister, Karen Anne Allen. He also leaves behind a treasured circle of nieces and nephews: Brandon Lamar Blackwood (Savanah), Alexandra Shea Blackwood, Laureli Lee (Jud), Issac Blackwood, and Kanaan Blackwood, along with a loving extended family of great nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward with love and pride. Jerry was preceded in death by his devoted mother, Linda Blackwood.
In tribute to Jerry's memory, pallbearers will include Kim Blackwood, Issac Blackwood, Kanaan Blackwood, Brandon Blackwood, Sherman Blackwood, and Brett Foust, who will honor the legacy of a man who gave so much love and light to those around him.
The visitation will be held on March 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Cleveland Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM and conclude at 11:30 AM, immediately followed by the burial at Mount Joy Cemetery beginning at 12:00 PM.
Jerry Harold Blackwood’s presence brought comfort, laughter, and a shimmering light to our lives. His legacy is one of boundless kindness, infectious joy, and unyielding love. Though he has departed from this world, the footprints of his heart will forever remain in the souls of all who knew him. May we each carry a piece of his warmth in our hearts and honor his memory by sharing the love he so generously gave. Rest in peace, dear Jerry, you will be deeply missed and eternally loved.
