Jewel H. Staton, age 88, passed away on November 16, 2024, in Boaz, Alabama. Born on February 22, 1936, in Jefferson County, Alabama, she was a cherished member of the community and a talented floral designer. Jewel dedicated over 40 years to crafting beautiful bows and floral arrangements, drawing inspiration from her own meticulously tended flower beds. Her love for the outdoors extended to gardening and enjoying nature in all its forms.

A skilled cook, Jewel was renowned for her delicious coconut and strawberry cakes. She found joy in playing dominoes and cherished the time spent with her family, which was the centerpiece of her life.

Jewel was a devout member of the Locust Fork Baptist Church, where she participated actively in the community. Her faith and commitment to her church were integral parts of her life.

She leaves behind a loving family: sons Lonnie Staton (Toni) and Dion Staton (Michelle); daughters Cynthia Pierce and Debbie Graves (Bobby); brother Harold Higginbotham; and sisters Jeanette Higginbotham and Reva Salter. Jewel was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Margaret (Sims) Higginbotham; her husband, Maxie O'Neal Staton; and her sister, Doris Campbell.

The funeral service will be held at Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel, located at 17885 State Highway 160, Cleveland, Alabama, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on the same day. The service will be officiated by Bro. Cliff Cook, followed by burial at Edgewood Cemetery in Locust Fork, Alabama. Pallbearers include Luke Graves, Josh Graves, Clint Stringer, Tyson Pierce, Scott Higginbotham, Ashley Graves, and Robyn Pierce Stringer.
