Mazell Sanders Owen

Mazell Sanders Owen, born on February 14, 1935, passed away on September 8, 2026.

Mazell will be remembered as a woman who found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved fishing, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and loved to read the Bible. She was also known as a “baby whisperer,” someone who could pick up any baby and bring instant comfort, quieting cries with a gentle touch and calm presence. She also loved to cook, sharing care and warmth in ways that touched the lives of those around her.

Her family was a central part of her life. She is survived by her daughters, Rita Knutson (Mike) and Charlotte Hooper (Frank), and by her sons, Ralph Eugene Owen (Wilma) and Mitchell Carl Owen (Bobbie). May their memories of her love, strength, and comforting spirit bring them peace in the days ahead.

Mazell was preceded in death by her husband, Revice Henry Owen; her father, Otis Carl Sanders; her mother, Mertie Bickerstaff Sanders; her brothers, Harthel Sanders, R.W. Sanders, Tracy Sanders and Dwight Sanders; and her sister, Azell Sanders Helton. Their memories remained part of the story of her life and the family she cherished.

Cremation services were entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home.

Mazell Sanders Owen will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew her. Her kindness, steady faith, and caring nature leave a lasting memory.
