Michael Wayne Smith, born on March 11, 1953, in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away at the age of 71 on July 30, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and simple joys that marked his days.

Michael was a loving husband to his wife of 52 years, Janice Elaine Bradberry Smith, a devoted father to Daniel Smith (Rachel) and Tracy Stanley (James), and a cherished grandfather to Lee Anna Smith, Gabrielle Stanley, and Nicholas Stanley. His sister, Janice Miller, along with many other family members, also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Millstead and Robert Smith; his brothers, Robert Earl and James Smith; and his son, Michael Wayne Smith, Jr.

Known for his gentle soul, Michael brought laughter and love to all who knew him. His interests were simple yet profound, finding joy in fishing, hunting, watching Westerns, and tinkering in the garage. His life was a testament to his faith, often reflected in his favorite scripture, John 11:25, which speaks of resurrection and eternal life.

Throughout his life, Michael worked diligently, embodying the virtues of hard work and dedication in all his endeavors. His professional life, though characterized by simplicity, was marked by the perseverance and integrity he brought to each task.

A service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Pine Bluff Missionary Baptist Church, preceded by a visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the same location. Bro. Terry Johnson will officiate the burial which will follow at Pine Bluff Cemetery.

The arrangements for Michael's service have been entrusted to Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, AL. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of those he touched forever.
