Obituary

Norma Marie Dorsett, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on November 27, 1949, Norma dedicated herself to her family as a devoted homemaker, creating a warm and loving atmosphere for all who entered her home.

Norma's true joy was found in the moments spent with her family. She is survived by her loving husband Benny Dorsett. She was a guiding light to her two daughters, Kelly Rizzo (Matt) and Kimberly Oden (Darryl), and a proud grandmother to her five grandchildren: Maegan Daily (Justin), Drew White (Beth), Morgan Gargus, Cameron White, and Vincent Rizzo (Kendra), and Kendall Rizzo. Her legacy of love and nurturing spirit extends further to her great-grandchildren: Mia Rizzo, Avery Gargus, Parker White, Colton Gargus, and Landry White, who will forever carry the fond memories of their time with her. She is also remembered fondly by her brother, David Ellis (Sharon), her sister, Rachel Watkins (Bobby), and a host of nieces and nephews who were touched by her gentle presence.

Norma was not only a dedicated family member but also a passionate individual whose interests painted her life with joy. She cherished dancing and listening to music, finding rhythm in every celebration and moment shared with loved ones. Alongside her love for movement, she embraced the role of a softball coach. A devoted fan, she held a deep passion for Alabama Crimson Tide football, celebrating each game with the fervor only a true fan can possess.

The holiday season was particularly special to Norma, as she immersed herself in the joy of Christmas time, creating cherished traditions that brought her family together year after year. Her love for family was evident in everything she did, as she celebrated the small moments and milestones with equal enthusiasm.

Norma is preceded in death by her father, John H. Ellis, and her mother, Evelyn Haynes Ellis, and her brothers; Sam Ellis and Johnny Ellis.

Norma's warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones will be profoundly missed. A visitation will be held on January 16, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Cleveland Funeral Home located at 17885 State Highway160, Cleveland, AL. She will be laid to rest in Nectar Cemetery beginning at 3:00 PM. Cleveland Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dorsett Family!
