Ralph Oliver Young, Sr., 81, of Berry Mt., AL, went to heaven July 17, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents Oliver Claud Young & Blondell Alexander Young; stepmother Pearlie Blakely Young. He met his wife, Barbara Ann (Jones) Young, on a blind date April Fool's Day 1956; they have been married 63 years. His children are Susan Darby (David), Ralph Young Jr. (Regina), Ann Latham (Terry), Pam Freeman (Nathan) & Amanda Ashley (Aaron). He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many more extended family. His siblings include: Betty Davis & Bill Young. Mr. Young graduated from Oneonta High School in 1956; He is a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Rosa, AL. He retired from O'Neal Steel & McMillian Fabrication Works. He was a very skilled machinist, electrician, welder, truck driver & cattleman. He was respected and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but forever in their hearts. The family will receive friends at the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel 17885 State Hwy 160 Cleveland, Alabama 35049, Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Dailey's Chapel cemetery in Cleveland, Alabama. Officiating will be Rev. Randy Hale & Rev. Odis Epps. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund & Park Avenue Baptist Church Youth Group. Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
