January 27, 1968 – September 9, 2026

Richard Wayne Warnix, age 58, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Locust Fork, Alabama, on September 9, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends.

Richard was born in Birmingham, Alabama, but spent almost his entire life in Locust Fork. He was raised at Pine Bluff Missionary Baptist Church in Locust Fork, where he remained a faithful member throughout his life.

Richard began his career as a mechanic in June 1988, beginning what would become a lifelong passion and dedication to his work. He soon earned the nickname “Pocket Mechanic” because of his size, but there was nothing small about his knowledge, determination, or willingness to help others. Richard spent most of his working life at Thompson Tractor in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2019, after many years of dedicated service, he retired from Thompson Tractor as he began treatment for cancer.

Even while battling cancer, Richard was too stubborn and hardheaded to give up. He always found a way to stay busy, especially helping his friend at his truck shop. Nothing could keep Richard down. He was always just a phone call away, ready and willing to help anyone, anytime, with anything he could.

Richard will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Amanda Warnix; his children, Kayla Warnix and Dylan Warnix (Bethany); stepdaughters, Erica Hasty and Nicole Schaeffler; grandchildren, Kiley Brooks, Joseph Parker, and Gabriella Greer; step-grandchildren, Emma Hasty; Owen Hasty; and Brandon Gilliland; his brother, Roy Warnix; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby “Fuzz” and Melba Warnix; his brother, Robert Warnix; and his sister, Ruby Turner.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, loyalty, and an unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Pine Bluff Missionary Baptist Church in Locust Fork, Alabama. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at Pine Bluff Cemetery.
