Robert lived a life marked by hard work, deep curiosity, and a lasting appreciation for the world around him.

Robert Earl Hough passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on July 14, 1951, Robert lived a life marked by hard work, deep curiosity, and a lasting appreciation for the world around him.

Robert served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected both duty and strength. He was known as a man who worked all the time, giving of himself through steady effort and determination. Yet beyond that strong work ethic, he also embraced life’s many simple and meaningful pleasures. He loved fishing, building things with his hands, and storm chasing with a sense of adventure. He enjoyed exploring and traveling, kayaking, and spending time in nature, where he found both peace and wonder.

He also had a thoughtful and creative side. Robert enjoyed cooking and watching cooking shows, reading about history, telling stories, and taking pictures. He especially loved going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a place that brought him joy and lasting memories. Whether he was sharing a story, capturing a moment with a photograph, or setting out on a new adventure, he brought energy and interest to the life he lived.

Above all, Robert’s life was rooted in family. He is survived by his sons, Robert Lee Hough (Holly) and Stevie Ellis, and by his daughter, Renae Kelley. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tara Sable (Robby), Isaac Kelley (Olivia Rittenhouse), Macy Rickles (Drew), Layla Kelley, Trevor Ellis, and Cameron Kelley, as well as his great-grandchildren, Lane Sable, Ada Rickles, and Vada Rittenhouse. Each of them carries forward a part of his spirit, his stories, and the memories he created through the years.

Whether he was sharing a story, capturing a moment with a photograph, or setting out on a new adventure, he brought energy and interest to the life he lived.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Hough; his son, Christopher Ellis; his father, Ira Hough; and his mother, Bertha Box Hough. Their memories remained part of his life and now welcome him in peace.

Visitation for Robert Earl Hough will be held on October 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cleveland Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cleveland Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Hood Cemetery.

Robert will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of adventure, and the many ways he found beauty in everyday life. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and remain a lasting blessing to his family.
