Obituary

Mr. Russell Darrin Jones, aged 62, a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. Born on June 26, 1963, Russell's life was a testament to the joy he found in his Christian faith, his love for his family, and his passion for music, arts, and animals.

Russell's light-hearted spirit and infectious laughter were a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his friendly demeanor and faith-filled life, which were as unwavering as they were inspiring. His ability to find humor in every situation and his love for joking and kidding around on Facebook brought smiles to many, making him a cherished presence in both the physical and virtual communities he touched.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Samantha Stanley, with whom he shared the deepest kind of love. Their bond was one of mutual respect, admiration, and an unspoken understanding that they were each other's rock. His legacy continues through his son, Frisco Jones, who inherits his father's kind heart and quick wit. Russell's memory will be treasured by his nephews Chris Jones and Lee Hastings, niece Michelle Jones, and his adoring grandchildren Leelan and Landon Jones. His love will also live on in his great-granddaughter, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his cherished "Furbabies," who gave him immense happiness and companionship.

Russell was predeceased in death by his parents, Joseph "JW" and Lola Virginia Jones, his sister Sonja Jones McMillan, his brother Clarence Orville "OJ" Jones, and his nephew Jody Hastings. They have now welcomed him into eternal rest, where the bonds of family continue beyond the veil of this world.

Russell's commitment to his community was evident in his active involvement with Grace Community Church in Remlap, AL, where he was a constant source of support and fellowship. His love for God was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with everyone he met.

An avid "Auburn" fan, Russell's enthusiasm for his team was contagious, and game days were always a special time of camaraderie and excitement. His interests extended beyond sports, as he had a profound appreciation for the beauty of music and art, which he saw as expressions of the divine.

A memorial service to celebrate Russell's life will be held at Grace Community Church, in Remlap, AL, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 am. The service will be a reflection of Russell's values—a gathering filled with love, laughter, and the shared memories of a man who made the world a brighter place.

Russell Darrin Jones's journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit, his kindness, and the echoes of his laughter will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him. His was a life well-lived, full of moments that will be cherished and stories that will be told for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Russell, until we meet again.
