Shelbia Jean Price Ray, aged 87, passed away on September 15, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on June 4, 1938, in Alabama, she was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of joy and creativity to those around her.

Shelbia dedicated her life to her faith, her family, and her passion for art. She spent many years teaching art, where she inspired her students to explore their creativity and appreciate beauty in all forms. Her own artwork, characterized by its vivid expression and exquisite detail, brought much admiration and joy to viewers.

Notably, Shelbia was runner-up in the 1960 Miss Alabama pageant, showcasing her grace and vibrant personality. Her love for life was infectious, often reflected in her playful, goofy nature that brought laughter to every gathering. Family was the cornerstone of her life; she cherished moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, making each family gathering and birthday a memorable celebration.

Shelbia's hobbies included a deep appreciation for animals and birds, and she found joy in shopping for jewelry and makeup, always with a flair for the artistic in her choices.

She leaves behind a loving family: her son, Brad Ray (Cheryl); daughter, Laura Walker; sister, Peggy Mestecky; grandchildren, Brandi Hollis (Hunter), Emily Dennison (Micheal), and Landon Walker; and great-grandchild, Liam Hollis. Shelbia was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Ray, and her parents, William and Ethel Price (Worley).

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at the Church of the Highlands on Grants Mill Rd. The family has entrusted Blount County/ Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, AL, with the arrangements.

Shelbia's life was a portrait of devotion, love, and artistic passion. Her legacy will continue to inspire and influence those who were fortunate enough to know her.
