Timothy Maurice Jones
December 5, 1958 – August 24, 2026

Timothy “Tim” Maurice Jones, age 67, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026 at his home in Nectar, Alabama. Tim was born in Portsmouth, Virginia but resided in Blount County for many years. Tim began his law enforcement career in Cleveland, Alabama in 1979. He built a distinguished career and eventually retired in 2018. In between, he served other agencies and took on numerous roles that reflected his commitment to serving his community. He was honored as investigator of the year, a recognition of his dedication, hard work and service.

His desire to serve others extended far beyond law enforcement. He worked as a firefighter and served as a director of emergency services with the Red Cross. Over the years, he also worked at Suburban Ambulance, Fowler Ambulance, Pizza Hut, Empire Gas, Glaze Wrecker Services, Jones BBQ, J’s Cafe, an active town councilmen for the Town of Nectar, and performed electrical work. No matter the job, he was someone who was willing to work hard, lend a hand, and do whatever was needed to provide for his family and help those around him.

Tim’s life was not defined as the jobs he held, but by the people he helped, the lives he touched and the willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. Tim made an impact on everyone he met.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Misty Jones; his children, Joshua Jones (Shannon), Alyssa Hathcock (Dylan), Colby Peace, Bella Peace, and Payton Peace. His brothers Roger Jones, Andy Jones and Scott(Patti) Jones. His grandchildren that he adored Izzy Grayson, Chance Grayson and Dale Hathcock.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Jones; father, James L. “Buddy” Jones; brother, Joe Jones; niece, Zoe Jones; uncle, Henry Mason; and aunt, Peggy Glasscox.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Jones, Colby Peace, Roger Jones, Scott Jones, Ronnie Chastain and Jon Jones Faust. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Jones, Danny Fraser, Dylan Hathcock, Dusty Dean, Jerry Wayne Thomas, Steve Pardue and Greg Cornelius.
