Virginia devoted most of her life to farming alongside her beloved husband, Leon, taking great pride and joy in the farm they shared.
Virginia Marsh, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, one day after celebrating her 72nd birthday. She will be lovingly remembered for a life centered around her family, her faith, her home, and the land she loved. Virginia devoted most of her life to farming alongside her beloved husband, Leon, taking great pride and joy in the farm they shared. She loved camping, enjoyed attending church, and cherished the simple, meaningful moments of everyday life.
Virginia’s hands were rarely still. She loved to crochet and quilt and took special pride in canning food and creating chicken scratch embroidery. Her many handmade treasures reflected her patience, creativity, and the love and care she so freely gave to those around her. Whether working on the farm, preparing food for her family, or creating something beautiful by hand, Virginia brought warmth and devotion to everything she did.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Leon Marsh, her devoted partner of 56 years. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Shirley Collier, Evelyn Allred, and Juanita Hill, and her brothers, Jerry Hamby and Larry Hamby. Each carries cherished memories of Virginia’s life, her love, and the steady presence she brought to her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earle Hamby; her mother, Irene Berry; and her sisters, Barbara Hamby and Erlene Ransom. Their memories remained a lasting and treasured part of Virginia’s life and story.
She loved camping, enjoyed attending church, and cherished the simple, meaningful moments of everyday life.
Visitation will be held on September 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at The Cleveland Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at The Cleveland Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Nectar Cemetery.
Virginia Marsh leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, creativity, and love. Her life was a testament to the beauty found in family, faith, simple pleasures, and a life well lived. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
