Virginia Sue Horton (Durham), 81, of Birmingham, Alabama, was called to her eternal rest on May 11, 2025. Daughter of the late Gene and Minnie (Fuell) Durham, she was a beacon of love and generosity throughout her life. Her departure was preceded by that of her dearly beloved husband, Esburn Horton; her cherished daughter, Melissa Dawson; and her eight siblings.

In her vocation as a caregiver at the ARC of Blount County, Virginia demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others, always extending herself beyond the call of duty to support and nurture those in her care. Her work was not only a profession but a testament to her giving spirit.

Virginia's life was rich with the joys of simple pleasures. She was an avid gardener, nurturing her tomatoes and peppers with the same care she bestowed upon people. Her love for canning brought the taste of summer to many a winter table. Together with her husband, she explored the serenity of the great outdoors, and she found loyal companionship in her dog, Rosie.

Mourning her loss while celebrating her legacy are her daughter, Susan Haughton (Jay); grandchildren, Ally Webb (Carrie) and Matthew Pridmore (Misty); and great-grandchildren, Karis Pridmore and Jaylen Poore. Her gentle guidance and unconditional love will be forever missed.

The Horton family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a Graveside Service at High Rock Cemetery in Hayden, Alabama, on the afternoon of 1:00 PM. There will be no visitation in keeping with Virginia's wishes. Arrangements have been entrusted to Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland, Alabama.

Virginia's life was a tapestry of devotion and kindness, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
